Yes, it will not be too long before we start writing January 2009, in ink,and have to strike out the 09and write 10.

I do know about them things with the rail cars, COMMA. I didn't realize it was the same for all the railroad lines and yards but, I guess it would make sense for them to all be on the same page.
Not sure in your area but, in our area the dispatchers can moniter the lights and computer functions when needed. For the most part they moniter the train route and speed. Check the track lights for safety and traffic and to see if there are any additional details frrom the engineer. The...

Yes! Richard and I went to view a house yesterday and we've set a reserve on it, until our applications have gone through. If everything work's out well, then we should be able to move by the 18th December!! I'm really hoping there won't be any problems, or if there is, nothing to big, so that we can get going! COMMA~I would voluntier if they allowed it. With everything being "security" or "lawsuit" tagged, they don't allow it anymore. I know a great deal about trains and how they work but unless I have my knowledge verified in writing, it dosen't count. I did try to become a dispatcher for the local, and one of the largest in the country, train yards but, I didn't make it past the second phase of testing. My uncle and grandfather were both lifelong engineers. Even my dad took me out to the trainyards regularly to make sure I kept a living memory of sorts, of what was not quite the family business. L&N Railroads was the company and my grandmother had a railroading magazine issue from 1968 that showed the routing computers they were just then starting to use pictured on the front cover.

I was planning to go to school while on unemployment, since my severance ends in January. Wow. I'll NEVER get out of this hole. Might as well just give up and party til its all over.

Ah, yes. The railroad.
Something I've been trying to get into all my life. Never could catch a break . I'm still trying though. The 2 lines that dominate this area are BNSF and Union Pacific. I could enroll in their training for almost any position but I have to have to start with one year at a local jr college enrolled in the railroads classes. This is something I have to pay for myself. Never been able to do that.
If I keep my grades up to their standards, then I can go on...
