This is my third attempt at actually getting my post to the board..... I'm an idiot. A posting board vigin [or an idiot!]. Let's see...... We in Australia haven't seen discussed Willow/ Kennedy pairing yet so not having actually viewed the magic [and USUALLY thought and sensitivity to the continuity of a characters personal experience] Mr Whedon never ceases to yield, i'm reacting all ignorant and uninformed. But i sware to the "sky bully" there's just NO forgiving for killing off Tara. As an individual character, seperate from Willow --- as the most unusually original version of a young female i've ever seen on t.v ; she deserved more respect. Period! Let alone the idea that the most beautiful true-soul-mate-love-story next to 'Mulder and Scully' [this is not about a "gay icon couple", friends --- please don't delegate them to any narrow box; this is about that oh so rare, in this shallow spew out the "lurve" connection's like baby puke median that is t.v, phenomenon when a love story reaches transcendence. Actually breaks through the cynicism. Make's you BELIEVE man. I mean how RARE is that, really!], that it should turn out to NOT be the stuff fairytales are made of but, just ONE relationship in Willow's story!.... Not good enough Joss. No way. Can't accept it. Wont accept it! Mulder and Scully were a totally idealistic depiction of an intimate relationship but, Chris Carter, not too afraid of being corny or of happy endings had them end exactly the way they ought to have. TOGETHER! Nothing less would have done. We NEED that! It is so disillusioning, devastatingly heartbreaking to think that Joss imagine's for a moment that Willow and Tara deserve anything less!...... Amber, if you read this, please know you are soooooo missed. Buffy is just not the same without your intricate detail and grace. LOVE YOU. Sorry guy's this is so long. First time posting. Purging all at once. Thank's for letting me have my say. Bye.

There is always a choice. They didn't have to kill Tara. They could have done any one of a hundred other things. Those other options may not have been as good (depending on your individual preferences) but they were there.

There was so many ways that season 6 could have been sorted without the pointless death of Tara. Moreover, I have now seen the first three eps with Kennedy and have to say I'm not impressed at all. There is no chemistry between the characters or the actresses and considering the next ep is them getting together I found it very rushed and obviously a blatent attempt by ME to placate the Willow/Tara fans. No one, realistically, would start dating someone they barely knew and had no spark with so soon after seeing their soulmate violently murdered in front of their eyes and almost destroying the world, killing two people and almost killing her friends, in retribution. I know that Buffy is a work of fiction but when the writers take such a giant leap from anything approaching believablilty you have to wonder about the true ability of those writers.

But no show since Cagney and Lacey (I'm the only male I know that admits to likeing it.) has had the kind of chemistry between characters that Buffy has for me. In particular it seems with Willow and Tara the people involved with the show were too close to the forest to see the trees. If there was a choice or not it was a loss of something That seems to be rare on TV.

Posts: 36 (02/17/03 19:22:59) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	As much as I can't stand Kennedy's character, and not just in terms of her lack of chemistry between her and Willow, I have faith in Joss. Having watched Buffy for years, I have come to accept Joss' plot and character decisions as they all blend to gether to create some sort of master plan. I personally do not believe Kennedy's somewhat strange character and her lack of meshing with Wil to be just bad casting or storyline. Joss has a reason for it, just as killing Tara really did have to happen to create the character arc with Willow's character. This show is about growing up in this amazingly difficult world and no one is going to hold your hand as you stumble through it. Willow shared an amazing emotional connection with Tara and having that yanked from her in such a profoundly simple action, seems to express how life will take everything from you if you let it and it's up to us to be strong and attempt to conquer it. Though I don't particularly enjoy this as much as the others, it is the last season and all those 7 years are coming down to it and Joss has a plan on how he will end these character's journies, and we need to have a little faith and know that Joss has stuff up his sleeves. Whatever that expression means...I was rolling... Sorry for the purge, I just drank a coffee and I hate coffee. Wierd how it made it down my throat. amber rocks my casbah!

I hated the whole initiative idea but I understand why it was there and how it developed the show on different tangents as it had done before. So on that note, I miss Tara, but we all lose people in life and move on, and as much as I am not loving Kennedy, I am intrigued to see what Joss is gonna do with her character in relation to Willow. Actually having an opinion of this character shows that they are at least doing something to develop her. She at least has a personality and a character. I was a bit worried we would get a few episodes showing her personality, but she would basically be reduced to something pretty we would see on Willow's arm or looking over her shoulder or getting in a little bit of dialogue now and again. I would like to see a bit more development on each of the individual potentials... and I understand the time constraints and how many there are, but these are people living in Buffy's house, and thats sort of a big deal. You don't live with someone without getting to know them, and with much of this season taking place in that house, I feel like I'm living with a bunch of strangers. I don't like that Tara was killed, and just simply not having her around makes Season 7 feel like an entirely different show altogether. But for the most part, I trust Joss to surprise us and to tell a good story. I think Season 6 was a good story, just a bit too dark for most people.

Especially the part about Kennedy taking screen time away from the other potentials. It seems like I always have to defend myself on my reactions to Kennedy. It is not just the character itself or the lack of chemistry between Aly and Iyari?. It is way it is being shoved down our throats. She gets many more lines than the other potentials, and we know next to nothing about the others. The other Scoobies are also getting pushed into the background. Willow(especially), Buffy, Xander and Giles are the reasons why I started watching this how. I do not want to see them playing second fiddle to a bunch of teenagers. Tara: My heart doesn't stutter. Tara: Willow, I got so lost. Willow: I found you. I will always find you. Tara: Nobody messes with MY girl! Willow(About Tara): We should have been forever.

And even her family. There is NO mention of them caring about her after she died. Even the scoobies don't mention her at ALL. Not even when they talk of Willow going evil. In my opinion, Tara brought SO MUCH into the Buffyverse. She brought depth and emotion. She brought the feeling of a mother to the show. She was the only one there with a level head on her shoulders. I respect Amber SO much for putting so much into Tara and making her glow! I think if there is a series finale, Tara MUST make an appearance to give some sort of congrats or sypathey. Afterall, as Argus1013 stated, Tara and Willow do always find each other. Peace, Love, and Amberness forever! -Charissa

So I decided to comment on something else as say that I will predict that there will be no sight of Tara and little or no mention from "Killer in me." on. I saw that ep as an attempt to placate. (Why it failed to do so goes back to the fact Willow was shown the only one to grieve, but if you want to argue that please take it to Ready, Steady, Vent.)

Posts: 1537 (02/27/03 05:59:23) Deadtime Dream Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	I think it is true to say that Joss is a highly accomplished writer, with work such as "Hush", "The Body" and "Once More With Feeling" he has shown that he can turn his hand to anything he wishes with a fair amount of success. And in this I believe lies the problem on two fronts. 1) For a "Genius" such as Joss to come up with such a cliched-riddled way of killing off a major character for the sake of a very unfulfilling (my opinion) ending to season 6 seems to show a sense of lethargy in the man. It was a pointless, lazy way of writing and, as I've mentioned in many posts before, could have been avoided and the DMW story could have been re-written to far better effect, in terms of both the story and the emotional strengths of the show. 2) That this underwritten and lazy ending was deemed to be good enough for his fans and that he has defended his decision as "the only way to go" shows an incredible arrogance on the part of Joss and ME and is an insult to the fans of the show. Joss says "he gives us what we need, not what we necessarily want", and I agree with him on that. What we need is logical storylines dictated by the emotions and sesnsibilities of the characters, not written simply for convenience and ratings. We need characters to be properly treated as the human beings they are written as, not as playthings to be discarded at will. We need ME to admit that sometimes they get it wrong, rather than sticking steadfastly to excuses that merely make them look stupid, arrogant and ignorant. What Joss wants to do is write what he feels and change characters, situations, emotions and ideology as he sees fit and damned if anyone complains about the illogical nature of it. What he needs to do is remain consistent to his characters, to create situations and allow them to continue to happen naturally rather than force them. In short, he needs to write like the genius he is, not in the haphazard, bored and lazy manner he and his team have applied themselves to lately.
