good good good ep! character driven, with suprises, and angst factor (i was fearin somethin would get andrew and anya at the hospital...really!). caleb dead. ok. check. so its up to the first to do the job now i guess. and uh oh...what role will spike have in this ? i guess hes not to happy rite now. and the first said, back when he was trigger boy "its not your time now". maybe next week its his time finally. many nice references to how this is the end. the end of the show.
but we get a reward. the characters we love shining! im very happy with this ep. looking forward to next week. when for the last time it will be..Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Previously.....on Doby the Futon Slacker...
Uni info arrived. The Chosen one may has to pass her burden, to the next. Potentials slowly arrive at la casa Slacker, who have to be protected from skewl, society and....parents who want em to lead a succesful life. Doby: Ok. Yew know yew are the Potentials. Or..rite now the Potential. Yew know what is coming up. Jax: Not exactly... Drop: Yeah what ? Doby: Drop yew cannot be chosen, as yew study! Thats a sacrileg! and Jax.....lemme tell yew, if yew wanna be the next futon slacker..yewll have to quit skewl, or well...yew can stay at skewl but yew cant go to classes! Jax: Whoooooo! sounds great! Doby: Yew think thats fun? Yewll have to store tons of useless knowledge, sleep alot, watch many shows and rant and think bout em at lenghts. This is not an easy life! Drop: Oh yeah i tell yew...i been there. Its hard. Doby and Drop nod, they know of the burden.. Jax: Guys....prepare me. I think im up to this. Its my calling. Someone must dew the job! Doby/Drop: *sniff* She really has potential. |

yay!
s p o i l e r s If an episode is a penultimate episode can it really be a "middle" episode. I guess a lot of stuff developed here so it wasn't really middle, but it was a bit like Weight of the World except good. -the Buffy/Xander kitchen scene rocked. (And no for those reading this without watching, it was not at all like the X/Anya kitchen scene! :-P ) Nice to see that these two can still poke fun at each other but discuss the issues behind the situation. When Xander does what he did you can see it coming, but it was still disturbing to see. And when that situation turns around on him it was a cheer moment, even though you understand the motivation. (Um, why am I being so vague in spoilery thread?) -the whole Glottal thing was really funny since I'm taking a linguistics course at the moment. -I like the weapon, it's very sleek and all, but it seemed really unwieldy. Like 2/3 of the hits Buffy took were because she was using the weapon. But then without it she couldn't have accomplished the thing she did so good job for superscythe. -I was nearly watching my eyes through my hands during the hospital scenes. The way they were building that up I was sure that Anya and Andrew were "red shirts." I guess it was just to give two characters who had no reason to be there motivation. Good stuff. -I'll shut up now so others can talk. I'm thinking about laying low for the next week or so though. Already caught one inadvertant spoiler on the Dark Horse Comics board and don't want to find out anything else about the finale. edited to add: Two really strange things happened with this week's ep that I forgot to mention. -I actually liked the character of Buffy for the first time in as long as I can remember. She could've been very "I told you so" but instead has been incredibly cool about the situation. She seems confident, strong, and ready to face whatever is coming next week. -Spuffy...it figures that it wouldn't happen until the penultimate episode, but finally there is some more advancement that felt legitimate. Their big scene played out really genuinely and made me believe that the guy who is in that body right now is not the same guy we've seen for the previous 5 or 6 years. It'll be interesting to see if he remains nobleish next week or reverts back into being evil. Hey, hey, hey. Don't be mean. We don't have to be mean because, remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

LMAO - this made the episode for me:
"Xander, I told you, I don't leave crossbows around willy-nilly... not since that time with Ms. Kitty Fantastico." Fantastic-o. I nearly cough-laughed myself to death (I have a cough). Closure at last? Too funny - the way Dawn just threw it in there - cough and you might have missed it Good good ep. I get what you mean Drop about it being kinda middle yet not. I really enjoyed it. One of the really good things about this episode for me, was that it's keeping me laughing. Laughing til the end. It'll be sad enough when the show's over, so the laughs are muchly needed. (Damn - I was so hoping for Evil Buffy. Ah well. Also, I guess I should read all my copies of Fray and find out about Mr Shiny Axe) Also with you Drop about Buffy. Although I don't think she had a right to be all 'I told you So' even if she wanted to be - had the gang not taken a stand, Buffy would have taken them all in again. The only reason she was successful last week is because she was alone. Where's was Xander taking Dawn? To Angel? Trust Dawn to carry around a cattle prod. Doby:Bzzzzt Some super funny lines - Faith's comment about Chao Ann leading everyone into battle cracked me up. Liked the "King-Arthured it" line. I thought Anya/Andrew were going to come to an end in the hospital too - I never in a million years thought we were gonna end with a wheelchair fight (again, picture me laugh-coughing) Cut to the ending. That was weird. Firstly, I thought Caleb had just consumed a huge dose of FE power? That axe sure must be something... Now me, I have and always will be one of those 'Buffy n Angel 4 eva' people, if you like, but that ending seemed so wrong. I cheered when I first saw him - cause well, it's Angel - back on Buffy for the last times. But - Angel was acting funny. Almost Angelus funny. And the kiss - woah, where did that come from? I mean, we had closure of sorts back in Angel Season 1 ("I Will Remember You"). And considering her earlier conversation with Spike - Really, really bizarre scene. Didn't feel right at all to me. Did Caleb's power transfer to someone? I dunno. Maybe it was the moment - all this chaos and then an old friend appearing. I dunno. Dunno. That was just all weird. Hmm. Can't believe there's only one to go. ++ "Confused, maybe - never scared."

cattle prod cracked me up badly. i always knew it! dawn must have tons of em, hidin em under the pillow or so.
drop: yeah! the hospital scene was way frightening. i was waitin for caleb to slice and dice em. thank gawd it ended in the wheelchair fight, which cracked me up badly, too. i didnt catch some lines, as it was in the middle of the nite, and big no no to dolby than and stuff (yeah yeah i dunno why the neighbours have a regular life). certainly in for a rewatch. a fine piece of writing and acting and directing this was. loved that every character had something to say, even something meaningful. now i really regret again, that its ending. And Giles' near-orgasmic face when he ate them *G* They should have cut that into the 'Touched' montage - everyone gets some, Giles gets Jaffa cakes *G*

I really liked this episode. Some very good stuff...and the Kitty Fantastico line....thank you tasha, I had been trying to figure out what Dawn said....I must have listened to it a hundred times, and I couldn't figure it out.

Just a few quick first impressions.Really great episode. So many memorable lines. "What's your name?"..."Buffy."..."No,really." Liked the Buffy/Xander
kitchen scene,Buffy's talk with Spike, and really, really liked the Buffy/Faith scene. That's as honest as those two characters have ever been with each other.Good to see them really communicating, and not just talking *at* each other.Nice to see Faith finally recognize that everyone has their own cross to bear. For her to admit her jealousy of Buffy, and then to acknowledge that she now understands how difficult it's been for Buffy, shows a lot of growth.I've always thought Faith was an interesting character, but that was maybe the first time I actually *liked* her. I usually don't chime in here with episode discussions...but this episode was GREAT!!! Way to go Doug and Jane
-Loved the Buffy/Xander kitchen scene..talking seriously about what needs to be done..but still able to joke around with each other.. -Spike/Buffy scene in the kitchen was a very touching moment..IMO -The Willow/Giles scene with them doing research...ahhh - the good ol' days!!! I miss the good ol' days!!!! -Anya/Andrew scene cleaning up the wounds on the SIT and then the scene in the hospital...that had me cracking up. Loved Anya's little speech about how humans fight for something that really matters and never quit, so she will keep fighting too. And then Andrew with "You love humans....you loooove them" and Anya threatening him not to tell anyone -so that's what happened to Miss Kitty Fantastico..poor kitty.. -Faith/Buffy scene was great too...I feel like I finally got to see things from her point of view...good to see her open up.. -The Guardian/Buffy scene....worked for me with the backstory of slayers, watchers, pure demons and such...and of course her line..."what's your name?...Buffy...No, really" oooh and the line about the scythe being a powerful weapon...but she already has weapons. I am thinking it's her friends that are her weapons..... oh and woohoo for Angel!! so many other good moments to comment about....I need to watch this one again... only one more to go.... Shortie loved the mention of the Giles and the Jaffe cakes scene should have been in Touched. Yes I did like tonight's episode. Loved the scene in the crypt with the guardian woman and Buffy. Anya and Andrew at the hospital too funny. Loved the wheelchair scene. Anya's speech about humans reminded me of the one she gave when Joyce died. |

They mentioned Fantastico!!!
When you're a Slayer's sister, never leave home without a Tazer. "Scythes does matter!" Too much talk. Not enough action. Go Angel!! The woman in the Egyptian obelisk....as Xander said to Jesse oh so long ago..."Well, you're a fount of nothing." Poor Spike! Bares his heart to the woman and look at what she does.... Only one more episode of Buffy.... |

So, we finally got to hear about what happened to Miss Kitty Fantastico. "Xander, I told you, I don't leave crossbows around willy-nilly... not since that time with Ms. Kitty Fantastico." *snickers* That was beautiful. Closure with humour. I wonder how long it's gunna take for someone to make it all symbolic and tie it in.
Overall..I found it hard to follow what with all the defilement going on in chat. But it was a pretty good episode all together. Poor Spike! It's like he and Buffy switched places. He was all touchy-feely last week and she's being all smoochy with Angel this week. The Anya/Andrew scene was great. I loved his teasing of her with the whole "You looove humans". Reminded me of Sandra Bullock in Miss Congeniality ("You loooove me, you want to kiiisss me!"). Okay that's my not so review review. ~ "I played a lesbian on a TV show and they didn't even refer to us as being lesbians...we were 'friends' doing 'magic together'. Im known as the fat lesbian chick on Buffy. Of course; I mean you stand me next to an actress like Sarah and I look like Ill eat her. *beat* Wait, that didnt sound right. But, you know what I mean. ~Amber Benson |

So I guess I was the only one who was kept expecting Andrew to put the moves on Anya. Must just be carry over from Touched. I guess Im also the only one to think that MKF discharged a carelessly stored crossbow, but escaped with out injury. |

Re: Episode Discussion: End of Days

I've come to the conclusion that I just can't type up a review for End of Days right now. I can only ramble semi-coherenly for a few sentences, then post it a few different places, because I'm not thrilled enough about the ep to write up different things at each spot.
It's not that I'm overcome with emotion, because I'm not. It's not that it was absolutely horrible and I'm disgusted, because it wasn't and I'm not. It was neither extreme. It was a decent episode. It had some nice moments. I adore Jane. I adore Doug. I adore Faith. I adore Xander. I adore the fact that the scythe out of the stone took two seconds and wasn't melodramatic, and that other people could hold it without it being too heavy like The Season 5 Weapon I Refuse to Name or Discuss, but only Faith and Buffy could feel the power and the belonging aspect. But that's about it. I wish I could say it left me loving and adoring and caring and seeing and needing and knowing more. I wanted this to be one hour of non-stop thrills or, at the very least, tying up loose ends for as many people and plots as possible before next week's big bang. Little Willow |

Re: Episode Discussion: End of Days

tanngjost: No and no. Not trying to say you are unoriginal or anything, both thoughts had crossed my mind. At first I was wondering if it was something kitty did to someone else or what, but I'm figuring since MKF hasn't been around for awhile that is probably her final fate.
And yeah, the Andrew/Anya thing played out very much like some old adventure film romance at certain points. When Andrew tells Anya that he is going and she is coming with him it was like watching an old Republic serial or something. Very jaunty and adventurous. Considering Jane has labelled Anya as her favorite to write for and Andrew (with the other Troika nerds) was sort of an outlet for the writing staff's geekdom I'm thinking this might have been a last chance to do some cool stuff with these toys. But if Anya/Andrew does end up being a thing.....hmmmmm. How would the Xandman react? Hey, hey, hey. Don't be mean. We don't have to be mean because, remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

MKF line - ya know, that's the nice thing - you interpret it how you want until a PTB confirms or denies it
Several of you reminded me of Buffy/Faith's talk - great scene especially on Faith's behalf. She really has come a long way. LW - What?
