As per usual this thread is in it's nature a spoilery one... but as it hasn't gone out on UPN yet, I'll included the usual spoiler space
S P O I L E R S P A C E Woah! Another cracking episode, courtesy of Marti Noxon, which was as we suspected the conclusion to the previous weeks "Smashed". Willow has finally hit rock bottom. Last week after 'playing' with the occupants of the Bronze she wished for more, and boy did she get it. This episode pushed the addiction metaphor from alcohol to something stronger - drugs. She experienced the incredible rush, a 'high' as it were, and then we see her come down and is left on a low which eventually showed its ugly head in the form of a demon. Amy and her visit the 'dealer' and are quickly hooked. We see evidence that this is indeed a drug, by the people waiting outside his room for their turn (or 'hit'). Amy is stealing items from Buffy's house to pay for her habit. The way Mandrak uses Willow "you gotta give a little, to get a little". Then the lowest point comes, she leaves Dawn alone (and couldn't really care less about the danger she had put her in) while she feeds her habit - and then when the demon appears she is unable to protect Dawn from it. She steals the car and 'joyrides' under the influence of the dark magick, putting Dawn even more at risk. The car crash is inevitable. Dawn was nearly killed, and her trust in Willow is shattered. And then she finally realises how bad it has gotten and she breaks down. She even finds the strength to admit that she has a problem, "I need help" she tells Buffy. The first step on the road to recovery. ---- Tara continues to be Dawn's mother figure. Buffy & Willow decided they had more important things to do and left Dawn to fend for herself (they didn't know that Tara was there). This is wrong, and hopefully they have realised that both Willow & Buffy have had their judgement clouded, and need to get back to their priorities. Willow needs to give up magick altogther, as one 'drop' could trigger her addiction once more. Buffy needs to focus on Dawn, and also accept that she is alive again and to move on, and continue living. --- Random Thoughts: Trying to remember where the music came from that was heard during Willow's second 'trip' - was it Restless??? When Dawn was defending herself against the demon, did anyone noticed that pretty slayer-like kick she gave him before running away - was this just a standard 'fight or flight' reaction or a hint at possible Slayer abilities? Dawn is the pancake. Tara cared for her, shaped her (funny shapes, or round), and both Willow & Buffy failed to care that she ended up burnt. S P O I L E R S P A C E - Leeky. |

That's why Leeky posted it with spoiler space, BTVSKid. Any thread that begins with "Episode discussion" is generally spoilered since it's discussion about the episode.
And on an episode note: Spoilers below (since it hasn't aired in the West yet) Argh, I wish Buffy had kicked Willow out! Her kid sister slapped Willow, for heaven's sake. End spoilers **
Tara: "Even when I'm at my worst, you always make me feel special. How do you do that?" Willow: "Magic." |

Ok, I just saw Wrecked, so I`ll add my review.
The most shocking and touching points of the whole episode, were when Willow realizes her magick addiction and breaks down, crying and begging Buffy to help her. I was crying, too. It was terrible how desperate she had become for her ''highs'', she had taken Dawn into the warlock`s lair, where the younger girl waited for hours while Willow got her ''fix''. Then, unknowingly, Willow summoned a demon through her magick and while she was still riding her high, it chased her and Dawn down the street. Willow used her magick to unlock and start a car, and they sped away, Willow barely in control of the wheel. They crashed, the demon chased Dawn, when finally Buffy arrived and while she was fighting the demon, it evaporated, because Willow`s spell had ended. As Willow stumbles from the car, her eyes slowly turn from black to normal, and she realizes what she has done. As Spike leads Dawn away, Dawn angrily slaps Willow. Willow, whose world is crumbling, begins to sob, and falls to the ground. She begs Buffy to help her. You can tell that her heart is breaking, and she`s realized the hurt that she has caused, but she dosen`t know how to make it stop. Later, we find out that Dawn`s arm is broken. Willow and Buffy have a talk. Willow admits that she felt like nothing without her magick. She says that Tara didn`t know her without it, and might not love her without it. Buffy says that she knows she would, and that Tara wants her to stop as well. Willow swears off magick for good. In the end, we see scenes of Willow lying in bed, obviiously going through major withdrawl. It was possibly the most heart-wrenching epsisode I have ever seen. More later......Have to go, mom need computer. Ruby. |

P O I L E R S P A C E I just saw the epsiode. I have to write something.... Lots of thoughts running around in here... 1) I was happy to see that Tara was in the episode..even though it was only for 30 seconds. 2) This is total addiction and I have enough experience to know that when a person says they'll quit, it is never that easy. I don't think Willow's downward spiral is over. I was crying with her when she was begging forgivenes, though. This show has never won an Emmy?! How is that possible? 3) I was glad that Willow and Buffy talked about all this, but I have one questions? Where the hell is Xander? Isn't he the third best friend? You wouldn't know it from the last few episodes. He needs to be involed in all this...don't you think? 4) Loved the slap. I would hate Willow if I was Dawn. Heck, I am starting to hate her already, which is so sad. Okay, enough for now. Just some thoughts...and oh yeah, kill Amy please. Renthead3 |

I have a lot to say about this episode, but more homework waiting for me than I'd like to think about, so I'll be short and sweet.
S P O I L E R I'm glad and all that Willow kicked her habbit, but I wish they didn't make the comparison between drugs and magic so blatant. And while I liked where they went with the whole addiction thing, it just started to irritate me that her story turned into the story of a heroine addict. I wish they had differentiated a bit more between the use and consequences of hard core drugs and black magic. |

I totally agree about Willow. I'm totally and completely skeptical that she's really through and I'm also somehwat skeptical that Buffy's through with Spike. End spoil **

i posted this on another discussion, too, but i don't think this was here then, so here ya go...
spoilers below . . . . . . . . do you think they could have possibly made willow look any more like a heroin addict? this ep made me want to watch 'trainspotting'. i mean, i loved it, but usually they're a little more subtle with the metaphors. i'm really liking the parallel with the buffy/giles and willow/tara relationships. will and buffy both have these terrible things going on in their lives and neither of them can turn to the person they normally would for guidance. (i'd like to see this bring them closer to the friends they were in high school.) thankfully, willow has admitted that she does in fact need help. this could mean tara will be around more or possibly less. perhaps tara will decide this is something willow needs to work out on her own and if so, i say 'good on ya, tara'. buffy, as well, has admitted, though only to herself and spike, that she's only with him because he's "convenient". that is the perfect word for it. now, if only spike would realize that he doesn't really love buffy. he just thinks he does because he's been pushed into this good guy role. very frustrating. one of very few happier moments in this episode was tara and her pancakes. i love pancakes. . . . . . . . . . i don't want reruns to start now. |

P O I L E R S Okay first off, I REALLY MISS XANDER AND ANYA! They had what, two scenes in this ep? That's not much more than in the past few weeks. Grrr... I need my Emma fix for the week! Second of all, naked Spike, NICE! A bunch of my friends have been saying that he's gotten so much skinner, but I just don't see it. Anyone else notice? Buffy is fighting and fighting her attraction to him, and it almost seems like on some level Spike is fighting his attraction to her, too. Like, he could have had her again, but then he had to go and say that thing about "This is the only thing better than killing a Slayer." It seems like he's almost afraid to get serious and then let it stay serious. I was very glad to see Tara, she was all stuttery, it kind of broke my heart The parallels between Willow's majick addiction and a drug addict were even more emphasized this episode. The second she went into Rak's place, I thought "crack den". And even though she said she's done with majick, I highly doubt she's done for good. I think she's definitely scared now, but hello? NOTHING'S ever that easy on Buffy. And GO DAWNIE for hitting Willow! I'm not the hugest Dawn fan, but I was cheering for her. Great acting by Aly with the sobbing and begging. She had *me* in tears too. I loved to see the nurturing Spike again. Gives me the warm fuzzies. And Sarah and Michelle have such a wonderful maternal chemistry, I enjoy that. Only bad thing is: THEY DIDN'T SHOW ANY PREVIEWS FOR NEXT WEEK'S EPISODE! Wow, my first semi-intelligible episode review. I hope you're all proud of me Edited to Say: Oops. I guess not intelligent. There IS no next week's ep. Re-runs. *Sigh* and just when I thought I was coming into my own around here. ~Ani ...when you can fall for chains of silver, you can fall for chains of gold. you can fall for pretty strangers and te promises they hold...

S
P O I L E R S A great angst-filled episode. Marti really does her thing. I have a lot of thoughts on this ep, so please bear with me. Everyone, except Tara, is being irresponsible. What if Tara had not stayed with Dawn? Dawn would have been home all by herself. I am really hoping Buffy is coming to her senses. Spike is a complete jerk(He says; The only thing better than killing a slayer is...) You know what he is going to say. Spike is the same psychotic, arrogant a**hole he has always been. I really REALLY ready for Amy to leave. She is there making things worse for Willow and for Willow and Tara. Tara's stutter returns and is devastated. Tara was doing so well. How long has Amy been going to Rack for highs? She sounds like she is doing business with him even in high school. Like others have said, Amy is not going to let Willow quit abusing magik. She will always be there to wave black magik in Willow's face. Rack is really repulsive, and I can hardly look at him without wanting to puke my guts out. I am so glad Buffy shakes Amy down and makes her sick. She probably will not go into Buffy's house again. The scene where Willow makes a substitute for Tara is really heart-wrenching. Makes me almost feel sorry for Willow. Willow seems like she is coming out of denial land. She really needs Tara right now, but she has to go to Tara begging and pleading. Dawn does a really good job fighting off and avoiding the demon conjured by Willow's magik on her own, and she gives Willow exactly what she needs by slapping the mess out of her. I am over-joyed someone finally does. Willow does get two thumbs up for admitting she has a problem and asking for help. The question is: Will she keep it up? I am glad Buffy and Willow are talking again. They both need each other's friendship right now. If Buffy and Willow had talked in the first place, maybe Buffy would not have done the dumbest thing in the world by having violent sex with something like Spike, and maybe Willow would not have gotten hopped up on black magik. They both have a long, hard road ahead of them. E N D S P O I L E R S Tara: My heart doesn't stutter.Tara: Willow, I got so lost.Willow: I found you. I willalways find you.Tara: Nobody messes with MY girl!Willow: I'm more of a breast gal myself...but then again, you knew that.

For those of you upset that UPN didn't show any previews for next week's Buffy...well...
That's cause there is NO new Buffy The Vampire Slayer episodes until Janurary. Instead UPN will be showing 'Classic' Buffy in it's place (such as Hush and The Body) Coax |

Spoilers ........
.... .. .Sorry bout the long rant Tonight's Episode, What can I say? Wow. It was really good. this ep was sooo heart wrenching. ~ Glad that they picked up almost right where the last episode left off. I felt like last week should have been a "to be continued" ~ Tara making pancakes for Dawn, How cute was that! Like old times. ~ When Willow walks in and sees Tara there. Tara looked so heartbroken when she saw Will with another girl(amy) and then Tara started to stutter and was going to leave which made Willow clarify that Amy was Amy-Rat so that Tara would know. I thought that was great! She wanted Tara to know that she loves her. But still the whole scene heartbreaking. ~ Willow staring at the pancakes Tara had just made and then the scene with the dress. I was like ~ Two Words: Spike Nakedness! ~ Ugh that Amy really boils my egg! She was bragging to Tara about Willow's magick escapades. That girl has got something up her sleeve. And breaking into the Summer's house. Hello can you say, Addicted Klepto Witch. ~ The Slap heard 'round the world. Go Dawnie! I was sooo glad she did that. Willow deserved it. (At the same time im like o man sooooo sad) ~ Willow Finally hit bottom. Her Crying and begging and then asking for help ... wow ... what a scene. I was crying like a little baby! She's finally seen what her use of magick has done to the people around her. ~ The Buffy-Willow talk at the end of the episode was really good. Im so glad that Buffy tells Willow that she knows Tara still loves Willow. Even though it was supposed to be Buffy helping Willow, Will helped Buffy too. The problems they were both dealing with, at the core weren't that different. K i think im done with my rant *lol* sorry its long but i really liked this episode. ~*~Tamara~*~ |

Maybe sort of spoilerish
Yea, I don't have much to addthat hasn't already been said right here, but I was SO HAPPY to see Willow finally acting like she cared (opr even noticed for that matter) that Tara has left her. I mean, it broke my heart, and of course I cried, but it had to be done. I definitely think it'll take Willow awhile to recover from this addiction, so i know there's much more frustration to come, but i am glad she finally realized that she does, in fact, need help. Unfortunately I don't think she really has a clue of exactly how much help she needs and how hard it's going to be. MAJOR SPOILER Was anyone else expecting/hoping that it was going to be Tara coming into Willows room insteda of Bufyy? the talk they had was good and necessary, but the romantic in me wanted it to be so totally wanted it to be Tara on the other side of that door. And as far as Amy goes: Even when she wasn't doing anything creepy, she still creeped me out. I'll be glad when she's gone too |

Spoilers:
First off I have to say "Thank God" that Willow finally realized that her magic was getting out of control, I mean taking Dawn to the warlock for her "fix" was just idiotic. Secondly, like everyone I was really glad to Tara in this episode even though it was only for a couple of scenes. Also I really liked the way Willow did that thing with the dress because she misses Tara. I HATE Amy, stealing from Willow and Buffy to feed her addiction. Willow has to learn that magic is not the solution to everything, she has to learn to live without it so she can grow. It nearly broke my heart to see Willow so low, the way she broke down and finally admitted that she has a problem was a big step foward. Now all thats left is the reunion with Tara. Not that I really care what happens to her but what do you guys think is going to happen to Amy? Omega22 "Willow and Tara Forever' |

Hmmm | ||
|
I'm sure there are alot of people that have a better idea of what will happen to Amy, but here's my thoughts anyway:
I can totally see Amy gettig deeper and deeper into trouble with magic (youi'd think she'd learn her lesson after being stuck as a rat for 3 years-and at her own hands). She could either end upin major trouble dealing with Rac and end up getting herself killed. Or she could just get deeper in touble and causing trouble, ending in some sort of confrontation with the Scoobies that may result in her death. basically, I just don't see anything at all positive happening with Amy. And I hope I don't offend anyone by saying that I noestly don't care |

Alyson Hannigan just plain blew the roof off the joint. Everyone was 'on', but man, did that red-headed lass cook!
Heartwrending episode. So I will be silly about it. Naturally. Some questions occur... Would Witches Anonymous have thirteen steps, rather than the more mundane twelve? What would the thirteenth step be? Will Dawnie eventually develop a phobia about Tuesdays? These are the matters that weigh on my mind. **** [OMITTED] **** I haven't had time to read everyone's post just yet, but will, soon. nitey-nite * edited for obscure reasons involving foxdemons and Hell dimensions * ~~ Everything that Anya says is true. It's a pity... the direction they went with the 'addition' metaphor means that Willow has to stop using magick all together (like an alcoholic, one spell could set her off again). I'd really like to see Tara showing her what magick is actually there for.
Unless there is a definite distinction between dark and light magicks....? SpaceLamb Yadda yadda.. nothing here to see.. move along now... *Edited for reasons below* - Leeky |
