Posts: 14 (11/20/01 08:32:54) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None Saw "Smashed" last night and i figured one of us lucky monday viewers would have posted by now, but they haven't so i thought i'd start. SPOILERS from here on if you haven't seen the episode yet. this week's show is just another that is making this season one of the best yet, in my opinion. b/s: i am so very upset about what happened with them tonight. it will be very interesting to figure out what's wrong with buffy not just in that spike can hit her without any pain, but what would possess her to have sex with him. the kissing, i understood. she's depressed and he's the only person it seems she can talk to about it, but now she sleeps with him. the only thing i can figure is how they're both sort of not completely what they're supposed to be. spike's a vampire, but he can't hurt anybody and buffy's a human, but for some reason, he can hit her. neither of them fit in and i guess she thinks they fit each other....or something. w/t: i was so glad to see tara. i figured she'd disappear for a while, but not so. her two scenes with dawn make it even more evident that it's almost like dawn's parents getting divorced. dawn trying to put in a good word for willow and trying to keep tara at the house, so they can at least see each other (that will be interesting when willow comes home with amy next week. i predict some big misunderstanding shall occur.) willow having amy around certainly isn't going to help the situation at all seeing as amy is just as aloof with the magic as willow. as usual, anya was completely right in saying it's the responsible types we have to watch out for. i realized that willow has been showing signs of this behavior since at least "Gingerbread" when she told her mom she was "having a rebellion". and she again puts down her high school self. worry worry worry. as for jonothan and co. i still don't see them as being the big bad. i just can't figure out how stealing a diamond has anything to do with taking over sunnydale. only time will tell. there were, as usual, several funny parts that must be mentioned: Tara: 'good god, that's a lot of shake. please promise me you'll eat something green tonight. leafy green, not gummy green.' the girl in the bronze is named Brie, like the cheese (along with all the other cheese references in buffy, it's funnier because it's former rat amy who picks her out) *Amy: 'and did you hear about tom and nicole?!' i'm sure there were more, but i can't think of them off the top of my head... anyhow, that's all i've got on this one. hope you all enjoy it as well.

It was totally cute how she had been practicing at 'home' (I wonder were she lives now) to tell dawn that she will never stop loving her.. the amy/willow/tara thing really looks like it could end badly. (editing) and that 'supernatural grep' thing willow did with the computer was totally cool!! I wanna do that!! -- Don't hit the horsies

How have you been?" Amy: "Rat... You?" Buffy "Dead." Amy: "Oh." ~ After 'playing' with the people in The Bronze, Willow wonders whether there's "someplace bigger"... could this be the start of Willow+Amy becoming this seasons Big Baddage? ~ Tara is still an integral part of the group, despite her split with Willow. She cares a great deal for Dawn - the moment when Dawn rested her head on Tara's shoulder suggests that Tara is becoming the mother figure for Dawn. ~ Tara & Willow's break up is still in Dawn's eyes mirroring the breakup of her parents. Having spoiling Dawn with the huge compensatory milkshake, she says, "My moving out had nothing to do with you, and I'll never stop loving you." ~ This show is gonna be SO cut when it reaches the UK. ~ Still puzzled over the whole B/S thing... They beat each other up, and they end up having sex... maybe the whole dying thing has turned Buffy slightly into Faith? We know from Buffy's encounter with the first Slayer that there is some sort of mystical force which links the Slayers together, so it could be possible. ~ The whole nerdy freeze-ray + backpack thing... you reckon the writers liked GhostBusters? ~ Craving chocolatey milkshake now! Though I don't think it's possible to buy one that large in the UK - Leeky.

I have read a lot of peoples posts and I too am not really over their breakup. I feel like Dawn. Just one question....Where can Tara possibly be living now? I haven't seen all episodes yet, but I thought she had no family (other than the Scoobies). Does she have friends? Just a thought from someone who is way too obsessed with . Renthead3

I was actually surprised that Tara was in this Episode(but damn happy!) Line of the week:"Good god thats alot of shake" and Dawns line about how it seems to be getting darker out earlier now so that tara would stay. lol Tara and Dawn : My favorite scenes in this weeks episodes were the ones with Tara and Dawn. The whole Milk Shake scene ... so sweet. Im glad that Dawn isn't still upset with Tara and i think spending time with Tara is what dawn needs ... Tara is still Dawn's mother figure. Amy : That girls starting some trouble Willow : She still doesn't realize that what she did to Tara was wrong, Hence that "...and one day they leave you for no good reason" line. What is it gonna take to make her see! And next weeks episode looks really interesting. Buffy and spike : Well ummm so yea that was interesting ... they puzzle me. Xander and Anya : Glad that they both see that Willow has a problem with magick and yay for Anya speaking her mind about Willow and her using magick. Thats all for now .. guess maybe i will go watch it again. ~~Tamara~~

After actually seeing the ep, I did not think it could be worse, but it was. Sex is supposed to be an expression of love between two people not of who can dominate who or WWF Smackdown. It is about romance. I am talking about flowers, candy, dinner, soft music and dancing(re: The W/T love scene in OMWF) This ep completed perverted it. This ep also convinces me that Spike has not changed one bit. The first thing he does after he realizes his chip has "malfunctioned" is tries to kill an innocent and then later goes to beat on Buffy. Spike has never shown any remorse for his past evils. As a matter of fact, he is proud of it(re: the story he tells Dawn in "Crush.") Spike back to his old pathetic stalker self and is the same old manipulative, psychotic killer he has always been. I am not liking Amy one bit. She leading Willow into trouble. The previews for next week look horrible. Maybe this is the ep Willow hits rock bottom. Here's hoping. There were some good moments in this ep though. I loved the Tara and Dawn scenes. I am glad Tara is still there for Dawn. Please come get me when things get better. Tara: My heart doesn't stutter.Tara: Willow, I got so lost.Willow: I found you. I willalways find you.Tara: Nobody messes with MY girl!Willow: I'm more of a breast gal myself...but then again, you knew that.

My favorite parts were the Tara/Dawn ones as well. I also thought that Buffy not even knowing why Tara had left Willow or that the rest agreed with Tara really illustrated how caught up she's become in her own issues, and I feel less uncomfortable now that Tara was the one who moved out. Amy is causing Willow to get more and more nonchalant about magic. The preview for next week seemed to be making the parallel to drug addiction even more "in your face" than ever. So what are peoples' opinions on what makes Buffy no longer qualified as human? End spoilers in this post - ** Tara: "Even when I'm at my worst, you always make me feel special. How do you do that?" Willow: "Magic."

Again, great episode. Has anyone even spoken with Tara after the breakup to find out WHY they broke up? I know the gang knows she broke up with Tara over Willows overindulgence of magic, but do you think they know Tara left because Willow decided to play hide the memory? Why doesnt anyone listen to Xander besides Anya? That guy epitomizes voice of reason. And I know Buffy is greatly involved in her own affairs, but do you think she hasnt spoken with Willow because its nice to have a friend as supernatural (i.e.- not exactly normal) as she is? And do you think the reason Willow de-ratted Amy at that time wasnt so much that she figured out she could, but she was looking for a replacement Tara? I mean, the look on Willows face when Amy went to go dance with the guys was a little more than just your average Im disappointed because my friends going away. I think though that Will excepted that when she found that Amy was just as reckless as she was. Reckless. Wrecked (6.10 title). Hmm. Interesting. Loved the interaction of Tara and Dawn. Theyre really starting to explore the divorce issue that they skimmed over in the past (Season ones Nightmares). But that must be a strong bond between them, considering Dawn acts daughterly to a woman 5-6 years older than her. Can NOT wait for next week. Hopefully more will be shed on Buffys genes. (Than more of her shedding her jeans. Throw in a little attraction (and there is SOME degree of attraction to Spike from Buffy, even though it is extremely minute), mix with hatred. Another theoretical situation. Youre a killer. Youve been a killer for the past 200 some odd years. And all of a sudden, without ANY warning, what you do and how you live is RIPPED from you. Your sole purpose for living is gone. But, over time, you start to see things differently. That there is another way to live. But youre too scared to even consider that. Youre horrified that you can turn your back so easily on the life you loved for something completely opposite. You start to despise yourself for it. For allowing yourself to be changed. And then, you regain your ability to kill. Do you continue on the path youve been forced on? Or do you try to regain some shred of your former life? Spike might have wanted to kill that girl when he stepped in the alley. But not when he was there. Face to face with her. Then it became confusing for him. Give up? Or stand tall? You can hear it in his voice. Trying to reaffirm his actions, convince himself that he is still the big bad. Im evil. Im a killer. I kill thats what I do. Yeah, maybe its been a long time, but its not like you forget how[hesitates] You just do it and now I can alright? So here goes The Spike of old would have bitten her right after evil. If his chip was malfunctioning, and he could really bite her, would he continue on once he got to the jugular? I dont know. Maybe he would drink to his hearts content. Or maybe he would get a drop on his tongue before stopping. Have an Angel-like epiphany. Who knows? As for the beating of Buffy, Spike never intended for it to get as far as it did. I wasnt planning on hurting youmuch. He initially wanted to prove to Buffy that she was now less that human. Much like the same way he proved to everyone that Tara was not a demon. Except Buffy got a little ticked off at this and heavy duty hitting ensued. *Quote:* Spike has never shown any remorse for his past evils. As a matter of fact, he is proud of it(re: the story he tells Dawn in "Crushed." This goes back to reaffirmation theory. Spike tells these stories of how vicious he is, not for the horror of his audience, but for himself. He thinks of himself as a killer, even though he isnt that anymore. The wicked one. The big bad. He tells his tales of blood just like a old soldier tells his tales of battle. Trying to relive and regain some of that past glory. *Quote:* Please come get me when things get better. Posts: 2083 (11/20/01 22:28:07) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	s p o i l i sh Where to start...This season has been amazing quality wise, I don't think there has been a bad episode yet. -The Tara/Dawn scene definitely was very very cool. I'm probably the only one, but I'm enjoying the chance to see Tara away from Willow. It's giving the writers and Amber both a chance to portray the character other than how she relates to Willow which is cool to see. It'll be interesting to see whether Willow/Amy or Buffy will return to the house first and how Tara will react in either case. -The Lame Gunmen: Batman and Robin much? Using a freeze ray to rob a diamond? Seemed a little to obvious of a nod to me to be coincidental. And the Doctor Who line had me -Willow...sigh this is getting far past ridiculous. At this point it's tough to have much of any sympathy for the character after she so blatantly toyed with the patrons of the Bronze. It's going to be scary to see her reaction when the other Scoobies confront her. -I'm not even sure what to think about Buffy/Spike. I love both characters but this relationship doesn't even deserve to be called a relationship. With all of the focus on Willow and magic I've really overlooked how potentially awful this situation is and as stated above, the violence/sex link is a really tricky one to confront. There's not much doubt that Buffy will come around sooner or later, but the key here is whether Spike has rehabilitated at all or if he really is the big bad. -As far as why Buffy isn't quite human, I'm thinking along the lines of what a comic did recently, that perhaps her body came back but not her soul. In mind and body she is Buffy, but in spirit she is not. What's potentially interesting about this situation is if Spike ever did regain his soul, the whole moment of bliss thing wouldn't be a problem for him with a soulless Buffy. She's gonna be a great momma. And Dawn so needs a great role model right now, with Buffy going through all kinds of emotional badness and with Giles gone. And it's great for Tara, too, so she won't be alone. Her world kinda revolved around Willow and the Scoobs for the past couple years, so I'm kinda wondering how she's handling everything. Dawn's so cute in her not-so-subtle ways of trying to get Will and Tara back together. Too bad Willow doesn't really deserve it at the moment... grumble grumble I so would smack that girl upside the head, if given an opportunity. Willow and Amy. Oy... Major badness ahead! assumes crash position Buffy and Spike. Whoa... covers her eyes I hope we don't always have to watch 'em screw like bunnies. They make an interesting couple, though. And whatever's wrong with Buffy sounds interesting. I can't wait to see how it all unfolds. One more thing... D&D books do not look like the one that Xander had!!! They're not dinky, thick, soft cover books. They are thin, hard-cover books. Grr!!!!! And yes, I'm being picky, but still!!! Grrr!!!! -Mandy

Shaking because: You can't show that on television. Was that necessary to show / hear that much? Kissing and falling to the floor tonight - then waking up next week - would have been plenty. Laughing because: I feel like I just watched fanfic. I think that speaks for itself. Happy because: BUFFY DIDN'T COME BACK RIGHT! does a little dance Amy's no longer a rat! Tara's mothering Dawn! Spike's trying to be evil! Xander is concerned about Willow's use of magic! There's a band at the Bronze! does a little dance BUFFY DIDN'T COME BACK RIGHT! Buffy and Willow are going dark! The season isn't afraid to be dark! Upset because: I'm so bloody torn about every-bloody-thing. Because nothing was wrapped up. Beyond the Spike and Buffy conclusion - which makes sense to end it there, and start the next day during the next episode - no other plot was resolved within the hour. Tara and Dawn were still at home, waiting for the others to arrive. Dawn only had scenes with Tara in this episode. We don't know why the triumvirate of quasi-evil got the diamond. The frozen guy isn't conscious yet. Willow and Amy grew bored and prepared to go some place else, but that was it. Yeah, yeah, we'll follow those threads next week... But what if this was right before the December month of reruns? Or the end of a season? Or a show that wasn't renewed? Etc? You can have partial resolution and partial cliffhanger - such a mix, twist or turn can be successfully done, to keep viewers satisfied that the plot-of-the-hour is resolved, but the arc-of-the-season is continuing and changing. Score music: I was so pleased to hear a great deal of background music in the episode. The vocalizing (woman singing wordlessly) made me think of the singer Kathy Fisher, from the band Fisher. That was all that I could think: "Wow, this sounds like Fisher. Holy mother of goats, she -- Wow, this sounds like Fisher. Building falling like in No Place Like Home. Oh my goodness, he - Wow, this sounds like Fisher." All in all: Buffy trying to tell Willow about Spike parallels to Willow trying to tell Buffy about Xander in Revelations. Glad that Amy's out of her rat state and three loud cheers to Elizabeth Anne Allen. Welcome back to Elizabeth - and stick around to Amber. Again, see my happy exclamatory comments up above for more. Buffy and Spike, I could deal with, I can even deal with what they've done, but I do wish it felt a little less like. . .fanfic. I did like the fight and the brutality of it. Spike is getting the killer back. Like everyone knows, I dislike Crush-era Spike. I like Big Bad Spike. He kicks, he kills, he kisses. That Spike was back tonight and I hope he sticks around. Meanwhile, Buffy's getting the fire back; I thought of Faith/Buffy fights often during the beginning of the fight, outside. I enjoyed the symbolism of the building collapsing all around them, again neatly paralleling destruction, things changing, and so forth. While I am upset with Buffy (like I was in The Harsh Light of Day, and yet moreso, and yet in a different way) and wish she hadn't felt the need to go that far, I actually can understand why she did. She wants to feel - she doesn't want to be alone - she knows Spike loves her, even if she doesn't love him back - she just found out that she didn't come back 'right' - she's felt 'off' since her return - she doesn't want to be there - she's hurting - and god, she wants to feel. Her path a la Faith does not go unnoticed, and that path leads to the tendency to... um, go NC-17 with a person without thinking about it. I don't approve of Buffy's behavior. I don't support it. But I understand it. That makes me not completely hate it, in other words. But no need to be that graphic, people. I mean, really. My understanding of the whole cursed soul bit is pretty shaky to start with, but I had though it would be possible to give Spike a soul or restore William's soul to him, however you want to describe it. This would allow him to be a whole person again (other than the whole drinking blood bit) and with Buffy not being a person with a soul the should be able to um...have a moment of happiness or whatever, unlike Buffy/Angel. Um, for that matter I guess Buddy and Angel could too now. Of course that's if the whole soul thing was the case. Can anyone give me a hand on this vampire soul stuff? Feyrificus: Yeah, I love my sister's dog and I am a massively big time carnivore, but I don't torment the chickens or cows I eat before eating them. If I had to kill my own food I would be a vegetarian faster than you can say "everlasting gobstopper." The humans are definitely a type of food to the vampires, but the vampires seem to have an obsession with tormenting their meal and commiting acts of cruelty against them. Of course this is gonna lead to a big animal cruelty thing so maybe I should just shut up here, but I think the evil part of it comes from the way they treat their prey psychologically as well as physically. When will she see that dark magic is not the way. Seconly, I am really, really scared for Willow after seeing next weeks promos, I hope and pray that the Scoobies save her before its too late. I really don't like the look of Amy's friend. Like everybody else I was sooooo glad to see Tara, she and Dawn are so adorable and I love the way that she still cares about Dawn, and she still loves Willow. Buffy and Spike, what can I say, I think I need a cigarette after watching these two. Wow, and whats wrong with Buffy that Spike can hit her and not feel any pain? I wonder. I believe one of the points of their "plan" - such as it is - was to steal a diamond.
