It looks good. Willow gets the wrong idea about Tara and a friend. Buffy in a mental hospital. Dawn never existed. Oh and Buffy blurts out in her weaken mental state that she's doing the wild thing with a vampire she doesn't even like. One thing that struck me at the end. The last scene that we see is Joyce standing over Buffy in a metal hospital with the doctor saying "sorry she gone back into her catatonic state" then end credits. I just want to say what the hell is this. Are they trying to imply that the last 6 years were a figment of the imagination of Buffy. AHHH what does this mean for season 7 the final season. Any thoughts Oh and there is re-runs next week. So we won't get to see the supposed W/T get back together episode till well I don't know when. AHHH I'm sorry just not a happy camper. That which does not kill you will only make you stronger.

Posts: 0 (03/11/02 10:53:52) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	anyone see the recently Tv Salute to old tv series - seems there was a long running Doctor Series called St Elsewhere that was supposedly character driven and always pushing the tv envelope (sound familiar) the last episode of the series everyone found out that the whole thing had been a dream fantasy playing out in the brain of an autistic boy who happened to be one of the doctors sons. reading leoffs episode summary I can't help but think "salute to St Elsewhere" quixp2 - I'm also wondering about the last scene ending with buffy going catatonic in the mental ward - does this mean the writers are saying that is the real reality? cuz if thats the case that suggests that like St Elsewhere the whole series is just a "real girl" in a catatonic states fantasy. That would be quiet a neg statement on fem empowerment - basicly saying a fem hero can only happen in your dreams I'd rather believe that ME was trying to say that buffy's death resulted with her essence landing up in another deminsion where yes her parents were alive and she was "just a girl" seperated from her friends as the first slayer had wanted but that she was aware of her past, gone catatonic and living in dream world trying to get back to the scoobies. I'd like to believe that this time buffy made the choice herself - to dig herself out of her catatonic state/grave and to return to sunnydale/live and save her friends who were threatened by/fighting a demon, as opposed to simply being brought back by her friends against her will to help save the day as she was in barganing. But yes - having the last scene be buffy going catatonic in the hospital does suggest that the "real girl in a catatonic state" is the true read for the story

S P O I L E R S i thought this episode was very well done. i'm still second guessing the whole "real world" stuff, but i think that's mainly because joyce was there and that sort of played off my emotions. i think i miss joyce more than i miss giles, to be honest. acting, as usual, was fantastic, especially sarah and aly. willow was so cute when she was practicing asking tara out. i laughed and laughed...and then i started to cry because of the incident eith the other girl, who i really hope is just a friend (and i'm asuming she is because tara came over at the end looking for willow). i just wish they get back together soon. i am very disappointed that there was no resolution to last week's anya cliffhanger. and they seemed to just dismiss her absence like "do you know where she is?" "nope." and let's move on. not impressed. i'm starting to dislike our geeky trio. at first i enjoyed them and there was a great increase in "star trek" references, but now they're just...annoying. and they're never around enough to actually see them as serving any purpose to the storyline. ok. i think i've rambled enough. hope everybody else enjoys. -Lisa 'the good life'

Think about it, the whole series was nothign but the figment of Buff's tripped out schizo brain. That would be coo'. OKay, so I'm a weirdo, but still. Makes me wonder...what would a non-Wiccan (in the witchy sense, lol ) Tara&Willow be like? Anyone got any thoughts? And yay for seeing Joyce, even if it is brief! More filler than anything else, but good filler (with some substance that will carry over into other eps, probably). Better written than most of the recent eps, but a far cry from Hell's Bells. They need to get Diego Gutierrez to write more eps. Xander's emotions didn't seem to flow very well. I think that's my main complaint, if I must have a complaint. I hate to say it, but this episode would have probably worked better if Xander hadn't been involved in it. It was a Buffy plot, and Xander felt tossed in as a second thought. Since he's in the middle of a huge story arc, he deserves to either be properly addressed or put on hold (as Anya was). Otherwise I thought it was pretty well done. I felt so sorry for Willow. She brought it on herself by not asking, but how many people would stick around to ask? Probably not many. I was happy to see some Spike and Buffy progression. But it didn't seem like the same Buffy and Spike that we saw in Hell's Bells. Rebecca Kirshner captures real emotion from them in a way that no other writer does (as she does for Willow and Tara too, I think). All the other writers (including this one) seem to write in a formulaic rather than artistic way. It was nice to see Joyce again. That was very powerful, and it was nice that Buffy got a chance to say goodbye to her this time. I don't think that was without deep and profound meaning. So, forgive me if there's any repetition of points made before! Firstly, what a magnificent emotional rollercoaster of an episode! I'm still physically shaking from the storyline that unfolded before my eyes. A chance to really see our actors doing what they do best! For the first time this season we get to see the whole Scooby Gang work together - they researched together, and then they fought the demon together. We finally get to see Tara take the 'hero' role, and using her magicks to help the others. I think Spike as usual has spoke the truth about how Buffy has been feeling. Her resurrection didn't result in her having a new found love of the dark, it resulted in her becoming "addicted to the mysery" - which suggests that Buffy has been suffering from some kind of depression. The hallucinations that the demon gave Buffy seemed like a metaphor for how she has been feeling this season. The feeling of being trapped, the fact that nothing in her world felt 'real' anymore - were seen as the Mental Institution. She has experienced the death of her mother, and then soon afterwards her own death, which didn't really give her a chance to say "Goodbye". Her soul/psyche/whatever wanted to recover, so it gave her the renewed strength she needs in the form of a message from her deceased mother telling her that "I believe in you" - this is hopefully enough to place her on a path to recovery. It perhaps also gave her an opportunity to say goodbye to Joyce, and move on... I didn't recognise the writer Diego Gutierrez's name. A quick search reveals that he has previous credits on Dawson's Creek. One final point - Xander seemed more like old Xander this week, perhaps due to a lack of Anya...? Hmmm... - Leeky.

Posts: 311 (03/12/02 16:16:27) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Comments in white as always, but boy what an episode best in a long time, kinda reminded me of 'Killed By Death' in terms of trying for psychological terror... Some very interesting things happenning in this episode, first the return to early Buffy representations of Willow (check the tied back hair -- gorgeous) and Xander (goofy idiot with his heart in the right place). Interesting, that Tara played Angel's role, coming in at the end to tilt the battle so Buffy could win. Interesting revelations of Buffy's past, that she's a crazy loony (or was considered by her parents). Indeed, very worrying that her parents forgot they put her in the institute. Surely, Joyce would have remembered when Buffy came home all bloodied up (okay, the shows writers hadn't thought of this then) and esp after Spike and such like. Such is the power of denial. Again the show paints another reality of Buffy, (the 4th) one that is normal. Buffy is a sick 20 something, living in a deluded reality (what we see) -- it's interesting how they painted the events of the Buffyverse (her death, Dawn) into the terms of her illness (getting better -- leaving the universe, rewriting history to give herself a sister). The ending of leaving it unclear of which reality is which, we assume that the Buffyverse we know is real, but we could just have been watching the deluded imaginings of a crazy person (Buffy not Joss :). Indeed, we do not quite know what her imaginings are -- there are plenty of interesting ways they could play this, though I doubt they will as the show seems to be shying away from the fantasy/SF element and playing on the human dimension recently. It'd be very interesting if Buffy after drinking the antidote was to see the 'Doctor' (that's the 2nd reference to a Doctor recently) in the Buffyverse, or if Buffy was to wake up in normality (the institute) and then meet vampires, and the scoobies (who don't know her) there. Loved the ending though -- about time someone rediscovered the art of the good cliffhanger... Definately the best episode of season 6 -- quite possibly the best episode EVER... I just hope they don't cop out and revert Buffyverse-normality too soon... See you earlier, Steven

Cliff hanger much? It made me think, it made me cringe, I even screamed at the tv actually, but most of all it's made me truly thankful for such a good creation of.. well, goodness! I'm still "Oh my god"ing. :) I have sooo many scenerios as to where this might lead that I am confusing myself. Gah! Super Tara to the rescue! xxx

Gonna have to go watch it again...Loved how they tied the storylines together with buffyverse and the "real world"...Excellent acting all around...Willow looked awesome with her hair pulled back....Go Tara with your wicca ways!!!!! Gotta love the cliffhangers.....How long til a new episode!!!

Willow with the hair up, fantastic, it shows off her beautiful self. Buffy symbolically deals with the death of her mother, the letting go. Saying goodbye etc. Sort of a moving forward. Tara...what a woman she is huh? Saving the day.... I believe next week is a repeat. I haven't seen that one, yet but that's cool. It's new for me.

I've gotta get up early and finish my mid-term. I loved Willow practicing asking Tara out. It was so cute. I felt bad when she saw the girl give Tara a little kiss on the cheek. Poor Will. I'm still a little angry at Xander for taking off on Anya last week, but was very glad to see that he knows he messed up big time. Disappointed there wasn't any Anya. I"m still going 'huh?" I'm anxious to see what the rest of the season has in store for us. I already have some ideas....but I won't discuss that here. Well, unfortunately my brain is fried, so I'll have to let it go at that for now. I look forward to coming back and reading everyone's opinions. Teresa "Life is very short," Amber says. First, It is really hard seeing Willow get the wrong idea about Tara, but it is good to see a jealous Willow. The looks on both their faces are heartbreaking. Brilliant acting by Aly and Amber. Also, it is so good to see some of Tara's powers. She keeps getting overshadowed by Willow, and I hope to see more of Tara's stuff throughout the rest of the season. Second, I know a lot of people don't think Xander is in love with Anya, but he shows it in this ep. He says a part of him is missing. If this is not love, I do not know what is. Great show of emotions by Nick. Third, Spike is REALLY an ANNOYONG A**hole in this ep. I am glad Xander punches him right in his foul mouth. I get tired of Spike always putting down Xander. I am glad Xander is not going to take this type of abuse from him much longer. Also, if he is so in love with Buffy, why didn't he stay to make sure Buffy takes her antidote. All he cares about is Buffy not telling the gang about their unrelationship, and he is still trying to tempt Buffy to the dark side with him. Fourth, everytime Buffy starts taking steps forward things happen to bring her back. sigh* When Buffy survives this season, she will be stronger than ever. I hope she never sinks back into her dark pit of despair again. SMG gives another OUTSTANDING performance. Many kudos to her. Tara: My heart doesn't stutter.Tara: Willow, I got so lost.Willow: I found you. I willalways find you.Tara: Nobody messes with MY girl!Willow: I'm more of a breast gal myself...but then again, you knew that.

This was a very well done ep. Willow looking very cute, almost a throwback to early years very nice to see. Tara/Willow angst not always something I want to see, but these things actually happen to real people so I think it fit the story. Sarah was great tonight. Her range was amazing. I think they really let her go on this one. Xander well I'm gald he figured out he made a mistake. It will be interesting to see ahs this pans out. For the amount that we see Amber, her presence is amazing. I'm glad they gave us a chance to see her power. Does anyone else see that she seems to be getting stronger now that Willow is not practicing? Hmmm makes me wonder. how strong was her mother anyway? Something to think about, we still don't really know a whole lot about her do we? That which does not kill you will only make you stronger.

Spend my whole day at school trying to find explications. I came up with this whole metaphorical explication, which made my friends look at me skeptically, then run far AWAY. But really, I hope this isn't a metaphore la 'Willow magic addiction' cuz honest to Pete, a young student heart cannot deal with that again. SMG was PERFECT. She is such an amazing actress and this episode really confirmed it. The 'no-Anya' part made me mad tho. I know it wasn't really 'normal again fitty' but still... i like anya... Dawn is sooooo annoying. I mean, I get it, she is going through at tough phase but damn, it's been annoying me more and more lately. I use to like Dawn Willow/Tara. Can't for once a relationship go the right way. Please, pretty pretty please M E. And word, quixp on Tara's force. Can't wait to see where is heading, or if it's gonna head somewhere....

I was beaming as soon as I saw Tara, and then immediately frowned when I saw the other chick. sniffle TPTB are gonna make it hard for us to see 'em resolve all this, huh? sigh * Speaking of relationships... I woulda liked to know how Anya's doing. Man, I'm so disappointed in the Xand-man for bailing. But fear can do that, I guess. sigh Hey, who else noticed that when he was talking to Willow and Buffy, that he was totally talking to the right people. I mean, besides being his best buds, the two girls would definitely sympathize the most over the pain and guilt of messing up a relationship. sigh I hope someone gets a happy ending when all is said and done. * Oohhh... the whole schizophrenia storyline was cool and trippy. I liked it! Especially how they kinda left it all hanging at the end. Our reality is based on what we perceive it to be, so theoretically, all of this could be false. And yet, not, because it's still true in our minds. Or... um... I think I got my philosophy all mixed up, but ya know what I mean, right? I slept through Intro to Philosophy so don't mind me... * Joyce... sniffle It was so good to see her, again. Words from mommy always seem to be able to cure anything, and she told Buffy exactly what she needed to know. Of course, her words did send Buffy back into the "fantasy" world so I don't think she's all too happy about giving the Buffster those words of wisdom. * Hey, who else wanted to see a psycho Willow, Tara, Xander, and everybody else in the ward from which Schizo-Buffy got the basis for her Scooby friends? The faces, if nothing else, ya know? * Ohmygod! I never thought I'd see the day when Buffy would actively go out and try and hurt the Scoobs or Dawn. Especially Willow! Buffy's usually so protective of the Willster, that I thought she'd go to Hell (Oops.. she already did, didn't she?) before she'd lay a hand on Wills. sigh And I was totally steaming when she tripped Tara, too. If looks could kill, my glare woulda melted my TV screen directly over Buffy's face when she did that. * Speaking of Tara! Dun dun dun duh!!! Super Tara to the rescue!!! Who else was totally whooping and hollerin' with joy at the sight of Tara saving the day! Whoo-hoo!!! You go girl! That's my magic-weilding, baddy-bustin' grrl!!! That just totally answered my wishes! During the commercial break, I was all fantasizing about Tara bustin' in, weilding her kick ass magick and totally saving everyone. And she did!!! Hey, and who else is thinking that she was there because her spidy-sense said Willow was in danger? I mean, she just went into the house like she knew something was up. Hmm... Thank the lord Tara came to the rescue, using her magick for the first time in quite a while.(Interesting how she knew that they were all in the basement).
