this...episode...was...sooooo...goooooood...
*pants* S P O I L E R I though this ep was really creepy and scary, in the same way as say 'Killed by Death' (there was a German monster - only Gingerbread has been that scary since :-P ), and it was sweet and heartbreaking in the same way Halloween was when Willow was a ghost. And I personally thought the scene in the master bed of Buffy's house (it's had quite a few inhabitants so I'll call it that) was absolutely gutting in it's simpleness. The end. Cause I is Lazy. |

Feeling more fragmenty after a long day at school...random type thoughts on the ep:
-Cool to get a mostly Willow episode, liked the way it dealt with her fears by dealing around them. Obviously there is more healing to be dealt with surrounding the trust issue but this ep did a good job of examining everyone's fear and Willow's understanding their fear. And Shortie beat me to my opinion on the master bedroom scene. Good to see Tara isn't forgotten. -The Willow/Anya double act is back. Great interplay between the two. Loved the scene outside of the Magic Box and Anya going from way angry to friends. Interesting subtextyness to the apartment magic sequence. Anya wants to do another spell? Hmmmm, played for comedy or something more? -Development of Dawn: in the first episode we see her training for physical slayer type stuff, now we see her involved with more of the research side of things. If they are building her as the next slayer it'll be interesting to watch. Lovd the paralysis gag also. -Gnarl was creepy scary. I am glad he is gone. I really dont want to see another skittery flesh eating demon again (my nightmares are probably gonna disagree). -The whole seperation device in this episode was pulled off in a really slick manner. Particularly the scene with crazy Spike talking to both parties. It reminds me a bit of movies like Memento or Go where you only get pieces of the puzzle at a time. The resolution with Willow inadvertantly casting a spell felt like a bit of a letdown although it worked well enough for the theme and concept. Certainly one of the better plot gimmicky Buffy stories. Back with more after my brain recharges... "When a chicken in this neighborhood gets angry it *will* chase you down."

Doby - Narl was immune to magic, or some such, he told Willow so in the cave, when she tried to put some form of protection spell on herself.
I don't actually think Willow has changed - I liked this episode because Willow is becoming Willow again - she's being Willow from the early seasons, insecure and doubting herself whilst trying so hard to do good, obviously with a side of grief and heartbreak. Edited to add: Doby - yes, she has, so I presume her opinion will come today |

Hehe doby - I'm heeeere!
This episode RAWKED! Quick recap... I'm loving how we're back to monster of the week and working through the characters' issues along side and as part of the weekly thang. Echo-ing Shortie and Drop - the master bedroom scene was heart-wrenching. *sniffle* No opening sequence to match the one in "Lessons" and "Beneath You", so I'm guessing we'll come back to that. Loved the whole parallel time stuff. The scene with Spike was brilliant, seeing it from both angles. I'm also liking crazy Spike. His moments of clarity are damn funny, "I'm crazy..what's his excuse?" (to Xander, paraphrased) and the one in "Beneath You" - hope they use it sparingly as they are very funny. Willow/Anya - funny stuff. Was good to see Anya forgive and help Willow so quickly, despite the fact that out of all the scoobies, Anya was one of the ones she hurt the most (physically anyhow). Gnarl was creepy. Eating those strips of poor Willow *shudder* Ick!! (And Doby dude - didn't Willow try and work the magick to protect herself, but Gnarl said magick didn't work against him?) End scene. Finally Buffy gets of her high horse, admits not trusting Willow and helps Willow (regaining strength scene). I hope this is a sign that we'll see the scoobies back as a team and working together this season. That's all for now, I think. Also - the musical score in this ep was brilliant! Me likes the new composer! ++"Confused, maybe - never scared."++"...kittens! Which, by the way, is stupid currency" |

I just watched the ep again, and wanted to add - dude, wasn't the strips of skin gross? Gnarl is so icky!

Another bit I forgot to mention before was the confused Xander scene. It was fun to see him be clueless guy again without really diminishing his capability. That whole segment was classic Xander. "When a chicken in this neighborhood gets angry it *will* chase you down."

I liked this episode----
Loved how they did the "same time, same place" sequences.....Spike was great....I really like the insane Spike...Loved the Willow/Anya interaction --too funny....especially loved the part with Anya and Willow doing a spell and Anya asking her if she wanted to do another one...hmmmm....what's going on there? Dawn being paralyzed but also "movable" was cracking me up....Once again--laughs out to Anya.....And it was nice to see some Buffy/Willow interaction at the end....The Gnarl demon was very creepy....The peeling of the skin and watching him slurp it down---yukity yuk yuk yuk!!!!! This ep is disgusting!!!!!!! I can not believe they are treating Willow like this!!!!! This is the torture Willow show!!!!! This is so incredibly WRONG!!!!!!
An invisible Willow? Marcy, Xander in "Fear Itself" and Buffy in "Gone" anyone? *sarcastic voice* How original. *end sarcastic voice* I think the Willow and Anya scenes are just played for laughs, which I did not laugh once. I can not believe I used to love this show. Atleast Buffy and Willow are starting to bond again. Tara: My heart doesn't stutter.
Tara: Willow, I got so lost.Willow: I found you. I willalways find you. Tara: Nobody messes with MY girl! Willow: I'm more of a breast gal myself...but then again, you knew that. |

hmm. ok, well i have a lot of issues with this ep. Looking on the episode as a whole, I feel it really pulled itself together. especially at the end, the whole unity, back to the scooby basics. However, looking at individual scenes is where my big issue comes in. The big issue being the scooby's harsh treatment and attitude toward Willow. Does noone in Buffonia remember the brutal murder of Tara? I just don't understand how they can forget so easily how much Tara was to WIllow. Leads me to believe they didn't know and didn't care. I lurrved the interaction with Will and Anya. Always have. I think they have great chemistry together, however PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD don't go there sexually Those two could have a great friendship but please let that be all. I did appreciate that what happened to Tara was acknowledged, even if it was brief. I've learned to take nothing for granted and to expect nothing on this show. Joss has trained me well.
And last but not least...I'm just soooooo happy that Willow's back. This ep really came together because of her. She's such a bright force on this show and it sucked not having her there. She broke my heart so many times this ep..."welcome home me" ~elizabeth |

I've liked all three episodes this season.
In this one, I liked the Anya/Willow bonding. I don't think they'll take it anywhere romantically, but they could be great buddies. OTOH, I wouldn't mind an Anya/Willow ship, because they seem to play off of each other well. I just don't think it will happen. (I should mention that I think soul-mates is overused. Sorry W/T shippers). Loved paralyzed Dawn. MT did a really nice job. I actually liked Dawn in this episode. If this continues, I may have to resign my "I Hate Dawn" presidency. I enjoyed Crazy!Spike. He made some interesting comments tonight. I think the skin eating scene went on for too long. Sometimes less is more. (And no, I won't make any tastes like chicken jokes.) |

Hey just a quickie.. I enjoyed this episode.. and Yea with the mucho Anya!!
I believe the Anya wanting more spells, was really her need of companionship over anything. But I'll get into this more tomorrow morning as I shirk off homework and work at the same time!! Bren |
