Hearts and emotions are precious.


Hi everyone - I NEEDED to delurk again today. I read all everyone has to say with much interest - I was particularly intrigued by all the intense feelings on the episode 'Touched' discussion thread - and it led me to desperately want to share my feelings on a particular issue...

This is the Tara readings thread right? - so I'm writing from a Tara point of view.

There are so many elements that come into play in the way BtVS has been and is being handled - for instance I think the milestone of the 'first' lesbian sex scene(i.e. Willow/Kennedy)on network TV is understandably something that the BtVS guys would probably be proud of - and I've long since stopped beating myself up emotionally with the analyzing of the good, the bad, the ugly and in my case the 'they should haves' with respect to character developments and plots of episodes. And at the end of the day - BtVS is someone else's creation and not mine.

BUT WHAT HURTS ME IS THIS - Tara is the only 'significant' character of BtVS that 'left' and was not given the respect every 'significant' TV character in the world deserves.

It would have been such a SIMPLE thing to do - why? - well because 'hearts and emotions are precious' !!

The hearts and emotions of Oz fans were treated with respect when he came back and got 'closure' in the New Moon Rising episode - of course the fans miss him, of course they would have wanted him to stay with Willow, but the owners of BtVS have the right to take their characters in whatever development direction they choose. BUT at least the parting of Will and Oz though sad - was emotionally acceptable by fans.

How about Riley? He came back and got decent 'closure' with Buffy - yes once again sad and bittersweet - but emotionally acceptable to fans.

Now to dear sweet Tara - the 'strongest', most moral, most stable, most reliable member of the Scooby gang, not to mention very provocative and beautiful(on the inside and to look at of course!) - get the picture yet?

What did Tara get? - what did me and zillions of Tara fans get? - a bullet straight through the heart !!! - that's what!!!

I will NEVER get over the trauma.

BUT the biggest thing I can't get over is the greatest sin of omission of the writers of BtVS in not taking care of the hearts and emotions of fans as they KNOW they should do - particularly since they chose such a brutal and shocking exit for Tara.

It is such a SIMPLE thing to do - the thing with Willow in the ep - 'Conversations with Dead People' is just not good enough!!!!

Before or after pairing Willow off with Kennedy(since 'they' feel it's necessary to pair her off) - what I think Tara fans needed to see was a simple Willow scene in which we get to know in what way Willow has taken Kennedy into her life. Does Willow just need solace?, does Willow just need sex?, could Willow care less? - in which case she doesn't seem to mind Kennedy doing all the manipulating & seducing..., is Willow so messed up that she just doesn't make any sense anymore?

Oh my poor Willow - what have Mutant Enemy done to you? - did they turn you into a mutant when my back was turned!!? - or rather when I was painfully busy trying to repair my heart from the trauma of watching a bullet go through Tara's heart (and mine)?

Dammit all - hearts and emotions are precious & important!!(i.e. hearts MINUS 'bullet hole'...!) - all the fans needed and still need is 'respectful closure' !!! A 2-minute scene with Willow maybe talking to the 'real' Tara(not all that The First stuff) would have been a SIMPLE enough thing to do dammit! - you know - maybe at Tara's grave with - 'you're my one true love', soulmate, 'miss you always', 'you're with me in my heart everyday', 'there will never be anyone else like you' - being the types of words and phrases coming from the redhead. That would have been emotionally acceptable....

That's the Willow I'll remember and treasure - I mean in my opinion it's such a slap in the face of the fans - fans make the show successful for goodness sake - and Tara fans and Amber fans are the best people in the world because they see clearly the representation of all things good and applaud the integrity in those wonderful blonde women !!

Mutant Enemy surely did wrong by Tara - of all the times to forget that hearts and emotions are important!!!!! They gave us one of the best things to come alive(cough, cough) on TV and instead have left us with all the angst, cyber board wars etc. etc. over Willow/Tara developments - I mean come on let's be honest, when say Oz left, the angst wasn't this bad or this loooong lasting was it? - and why? - well because like I've said Tara (Willow's everything and Scooby gang confidante/strength) was one of the best things on TV and thus created all this huge emotions.

To conclude I ask how could ME forget hearts and emotions are important - duh daft much? - no offense meant to anyone - it just seeems so daft (& hurtful)to me!!!

Phew!! - that was really draining!! - but I meant every word - I wonder what next is gonna draw me out of my lurking mode....

Tara and W/T love in my heart forever and ever!

nice points but remember. amber didn't renew her contract. therefore, tara couldn't come back in any form. and i for one was content with willow making tara's grave a priority on return from england after healing. and "the killer in me" as much as everyone hated it, did resolve one other thing: willow still remains dearly in love with tara, so much that kissing kennedy, moving on from her mourning, hurt her enough to want to punish herself. and conversations with dead people was another emotional approach, and maybe tara fans would have been solaced if it had been tara instead, but that was not possible.

i know this is a tara board. i know people loved and still love her. but in loving tara, don't we all love willow? and maybe in loving tara we should put aside such malice that arises. willow the love of tara's life is still alive. she's happy. so let her be happy. tara would want that, she's dead and can't give that anymore, but she'd want willow to be happy.

I think UnLovedLlama has some good points here, however if I'm right the only reason Amber didn't renew her contract is because they wanted to make Tara evil. So I'm assuming she would have if it wasn't for that. I totally agree with everything that WannaFriendsBe is saying. I am sooo MAD at what they did with the show and Tara. ~Tara~

eh i think by making her "evil" they meant she was going to be used by the first eventually like every one else. i don't think they meant an "evil tara" copy of "evil willow."

though...tara with black hair and eyes...rawr.

If you don't want to be spoiled then don't look at the ep Touched, but it goes into greater detail when the Mayor speaks to Faith and casts the whole issue of the First as Tara in a new light.

As far as hearts and emotions are important... not to Mutant Enemy. Call it artisitc freedom or call it cruelty, but Mutant Enemy will hurt you just because they think it is dramatic.

They wanted it to be as painful as possible and the reason *I* believe they haven't done any closure is because they are treading lightly for fear of stirring up the hate they brought upon themselves when they first killed Tara.

After "Touched" i wished even more that Amber had renewed her contract. Oh, the possibilities.....im a sucker for willow tears.

Uni info arrived. The Chosen one may has to pass her burden, to the next. Potentials slowly arrive at la casa Slacker, who have to be protected from skewl, society and....parents who want em to lead a succesful life.

Doby: Yew think thats fun? Yewll have to store tons of useless knowledge, sleep alot, watch many shows and rant and think bout em at lenghts. This is not an easy life!

Tara wasn't really given the credit that i think is due her. and it's so sad. and it was so unfair that she was included in the credits but then what? put a bullet in her? for killing her? it sucks!

my only consolation, though, was this tiny article i read somewhere (i think in other forum) about either j. espenson or marti's interview that says they made a mistake for killing tara and that they desparately wanted to get tara back only amber won't come back. if this is true then... they're losers! good for them.

and now to make up for the loss of one gay character, tara, that is. they created another one in kennedy. i've nothing against kennedy, she's kinda sweet (oh, i see brows arching) ... but i just see no chemistry between her and willow. this pairing is poorly done. a cheap shot, maybe, just to appease those who were hurt for killing a gay character?

or maybe joss and company thinks that fans were just after with this gay love thingy.Hah!they should know better than that.
it's tara's character that is mourned about. tara who played a vital part in buffy. tara who kept willow on the ground. for just being tara. and for amber playing tara.

it sucks!!!

guess, this is long enough. my first time airing my gut out. now i really have to hush now.

HEY all the aberholics and amber lovers,

How many of u guyz think that Tara's death was not fair.She didnt have to die she could have jus been really hurt because the writers only wanted evil Willow 2 come forth.So they said they "Had" to kill her which i think is wrong.What do u guyz think?
