Calliope has Morris the Cat as an animal sidekick for the second book. Amber has done her research once again as cats are revered in Egyptian mythology. And is that a Ziggurat behind Cally? |

Like the Cover very much! If the contents are as good if not better than the 1st installment, then this could potentially be a great book indeed. We shall see
but I admit to being very hopeful.

Looks more like a pyramid than a ziggurat. which fits cat symbolism better. (I used to own Morris's biography.)

Cats, naturally, are the best companions. Egyptians knew.

alright, guys and gals. i do hate to be... you know, but is it really just me that can't see to wrap their brains around why the heck they made the covers
look like this? that cgi woman looks like such a soccer mom, i don't understand why they couldn't have made her a wee bit younger (as in at least 10
years), though i can see a significant difference in appearance this time around. i kind of have to wince when i look at it, no matter how damn proud i am that
amber is writing this book series. they're such disappointing covers (even if runt was pretty cute on the last one).
though i feel like i've done a pretty good job with keeping up on interviews and articles concerning her series, has there ever been any mention about where the cover art comes from and what likeness inspired the representation of calliope? again, i'm totally not trolling or being a snot rocket, i almost feel alone in this opinion. it's just kind of deflating too see a badly imaged woman on her book covers. check out the proportions of body parts, it's making me crazy. call me a perfectionist! goes back to my corner now, anxiously awaiting book two. |

Covers tend to be the exclusive province of the publisher. Sometimes even the editor doesn't have much input into what they look like. However, often an
author is asked for their opinion during the creative process.
Amber mentioned at a signing I was at that when she was shown the proposed cover for Death's Daughter, she asked that the model's face be airbrushed a bit, to reduce her jawline and make her look less 'manly'. The publisher did as she asked, although Amber added that, in her own mind, Calliope does not look like the model on the book covers. |

good cause in my mind she doesn't look that way either :-) I can't stop imagening her being played by Amber herself, in my mind Calu is looking a bit
like Amber did in Strictly Sexual, xcept with a more eh, whazzdaword... damn non-nativeness... nonchalant? hairstyle and sex and the city type outfits.

I have been thinking thia all along. Does Calliope Reaper Jones, as protrayed on he covers, remind anyone of a certain person, calling herself Little Willow? Just something that I thought from day one. COMMA |
