Wow, I saw the trailer and it seems to be a beautiful film. It's a pity I won't be able to see it

Quote:Agreed. Well, her and Tsunami Bomb. Everyone must learn and love them as well. Quote:double agreed. It does look pretty good. Kind of sounds like a movie version of Everwood. But then again, trailers dont really tell you too much. Im very excited. ------------------

Well, for whatever reason, I can watch the trailer, but there's no sound. I'm hoping with this role, Amber gets to use her natural Southern accent...which, when you think about it, we've never really heard her speak with.

I think she said her dad never really let her have a southern accent? Or something like that.
I'm so digging her dark hair. ![]() |

Quote: i have! ha, but she was kidding. kate's right--her daddy made them get used to speaking without an accent. she said whenever they said "ya'll" her dad would say "you guys! it's you guys!" haha... |

Haha, sounds like my dad. Sometimes the southern drawl just creeps right back in, and he gets all grumpy at me. "Kate! You've lived in California for years! Don't regress!"
...But it's so much fun! ![]() |

Re: Simple Things | ||
Quote: Hmmm...I don't really know anything about Amber's father, but it seems a bit unusual to me that someone would go to any lengths to make sure their children don't speak with their regional dialect. I mean, an accent is such an unconscious thing (for instance, I've never thought that I speak with any sort of accent at all, but the first time I went to the South, everybody, upon hearing me speak, would say, "Chicago, right?" LOL). I guess if her dad came from outside of the South and settled in Alabama, he would take special note of the drawl, but for natives, I would think they just wouldn't notice they were speaking "Southern." At any rate, even if she didn't have that Birmingham lilt herself, I'm sure Amber picked up enough from people around her back home to give a convincing portrayal of a Carolina girl, eh? |

i'm not 100% on this, but i think diane and her family are from alabama, not her dad. and amber's southern accent is really good! i can't wait!

Quote: In Chance you can kind of notice it. In the beginning when she says "Nothing is ever the same again" you can tell. kinda funny, but yeah, like someone pointed out... its such an unconcious thing. Also, yeah... definately digging the dark hair. I just dyed mine red and now I want so badly to go back to black again. ------------------

Quote: Yeah, I think it's most noticable when she says the word 'again' because I always giggle when she says that word. I love how she says 'again.' Like if you have the video game BtVS: Chaos Bleeds and you watch Amber's recording session and the other extras that include her, when she's doing the voice for Vampire Tara she says "Dead again? I can't catch a break." you can hear it, too. Also I think I noticed in some Buffy episodes, but I don't remember which ones. Talula
It is no different to be born gay instead of straight as it is to be born left-handed instead of right. We're theater people. We don't care. We're all prostitutes & vagabonds & we'll rob you blind. |

I grew up in Dothan Alabama and did have a real Southern accent. After living all over the world, my accent is only Southern when I choice it to be or am very tired. Living in Northen Tennesse I can tell you that the accents here is different than the Bama ones. I do compare Sothern Accents to Southern Bar-B-Q. They both change every 100 miles that one travels.

I have to ask this. Please, no Amber hit teams are neded. "Does Amber not want to play the same role twice so she makes sure she dies in each movie? Just thinking out loud.

Haha! The dying character is her trademark. And my friend, Katie, and I agree, it's quite the trademark to have.
