Got a call from my local Borders book shop yesterday that my Death's Daughter I ordered through them was in, I went straight down there at lunch to pick it
up. That was the longest afternoon of work ever. I planned to read a little before I went to bed, but here I sit, bloodshot eyes, no sleep at all last night,
I read it cover to cover, but well worth it. Yay Amber.

Went to the nearest Borders to my house today.....no Death's Daughter
 I am thinking they are getting ready to stock alot of books since
tons of shelves were bare. I'll call them tomorrow and see if it's in. If not....I will search every book store around until I find it!

Okay, I finished the book over the course of a weekend and will give you my honest and heartfelt opinion, and give my reasons why.
In short, I loved this book. The story was engrossing and the characters engaging. The first-person narration took me a little getting used to but once I got into the ryhthm of it I thoroughly enjoyed it. The main character of Calliope is a wonderful creation and I am looking forward to reading more. What I liked most about the book however, was the warmth and positive energy of it. I will explain. Due to circumstances in my life I am very well aware that this world is an often cruel, callous and painful place. I personally don't need my fiction to tell me that. What I need from my fiction is to tell me that the darkness can be beaten, that there is still hope. It is that sort of fiction I tend to gravitate towards, rightly or wrongly. In this book, the positive energy and Amber's warmth, compassion and love of life and people shines through to the point where by the end I had not only enjoyed a great story, I also felt a little better about myself and the world around me and that is a gift that is more precious than anything to me, especially at this juncture in my life. SO I will happily and eagerly recommend this book to anyone and everyone as I loved it.

I'm liking a lot of the little things; how, for example, Clalie seems to agree with me about that exhibit of plasticized cadavers.
And, my bad I know, but I cant' picture Callie as the cover illustration. I mean, I know it said right int he text, Callie's 5'6" not 5'4" but I keep seeing AMber when I visualize the scenes and hear the narrative in Amber's voice. Naughty me. |

oke, i finally finished it, i think i subconsiously tried to let it take as long possible, i didn't want it to end! usually i read a lot faster.
I too couldn't picture the cover girl as callie either. With me it was also Amber xD I also loved the little quirks Callie had. it gave her a lot more character. (I liked the bodies exhibition though, i found it very interesting, too bad i couldn't see everything) |
